Public Comment Period Extended for Backcountry Management Plan

January 14, 2022

The National Park Service is extending the public comment period on the Draft Backcountry Management Plan and associated environmental assessment (EA) for Wupatki National Monument. The extension will now go through Sunday, January 30, 2022.

The purpose of this Plan is to provide protection and preservation of irreplaceable resources and wilderness character while establishing a long-term direction for public access and experiences to be had in the eligible wilderness and other backcountry lands of the Monument.

Public input is vital to this process and we want to hear from you! Please visit the National Park Service project website at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/WUPABackcountry to download a copy of the complete EA and submit your thoughts.
